Go With The Troubleshooter

In all OS there is an inbuilt Troubleshooter for fixing any problems of your PC. To open the Troubleshooter in Windows 7, go to the Start menu and just type ‘troubleshoot’ in the select box. You can see the ‘Troubleshooting’ option under the Control panel(12). Click on the Troubleshooting and select  ‘Fix problems with Windows Update’under ‘System and Security’ section.

It will open a Windows Update window, click on the Next button here. It will automatically fix the problem and then you can solve it by click on the fixes.

Update The Windows Update Agent

It is an inbuilt program which helps to determine what update is needed for the computer and download that from Microsoft. So, by updating or downloading this Update Agent you can update ypur Windows 7 OS.

At first, install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 before update the Windows Update Agent. Then go to the Microsoft support site and click on the ‘Stand-alone packages for Windows 7 SP1’ to expand it. Download The Updates Manually

Run A Clean Boot

If the problem still persists then you have to do a clean boot because maybe there are some application which can be interfering at the time of Windows update. After that, your system will start with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. To do this:

Press Windows logo key and R button together to open the Run dialog box. Type ‘msconfig’ and hit Enter. It will open a system configuration window.

In the system configuration window click on the ‘General’ tab and you will find the Selective startup option. Click on it and uncheck the Load startup items, just check only the Load system services. Then click on the OK button at the bottom.

Next, go to the service tab and check the box of ‘Hide all Microsoft services’. then click on the Disable all at the right end and then click on OK at the bottom.

Now, restart your computer and it will boot into a clean state. Check whether you can download Windows 7 update or not.

Disable The Windows Firewall

Sometimes Windows Firewall caused these issues and the only thing you need to do to fix the problem is to disable the Windows Firewall. So do this by following steps:

1. Click on the Start menu located at the bottom of your desktop. next type control panel in the box to open the control panel and change the View by option to Small icon under it.

2. Find Windows Defender Firewall option and click on it. Now click on ‘Turn off Windows Firewall’ next to the private and public network settings.
