Fix 1: Uninstall the Discord

At first, you should try to uninstall the Discord application from the device. The following steps will help you to uninstall the Discord application. 

  1. At first, open the Task Manager by pressing the Ctrl + Alt + Del button from the keyboard. 
  2. Look for the entry which is related to Discord. You can find it under the Processes section. 
  3. Then, end the process and close the Task Manager. 
  4. Open the Start menu and click on the Search box. Then, write down “Control Panel” and hit the Enter button. 
  5. After, opening the Control Panel switch, the category tab under the Programs and click on the Uninstall button.
  6. Look for the Discord application and click on the Remove button to disable it from the device. 

Alternative Method:

If you fail to apply the previously discussed steps, then you should try the following one to uninstall the Discord application. 

  • At first, open the Run dialog box while pressing the Win key + R button from the keyboard. 
  • Then, write down “%appdata% in the appearing dialog box and hit the Enter button. 
  • Follow the path “%AppData%/Discord and %LocalAppData%/Discord”. 
  • Then, restart the computer and try to reinstall the Discord application and check if the problem is resolved or not. 

Fix 2: Delete the Local Data

You can fix the problem by deleting the local data from the device. The following steps will help you to delete the local data.

  1.  At first, open the Run dialog box while pressing the Win key + R button from the keyboard.
  2. Write downtaskmgr” in the appearing dialog box and hit the Enter button.
  3. Find out the processes associated with Discord running in the task manager. After that, right-click on each one of the processes and select End Task.
  4. Then, again open the Run dialog box and type %LocalAppData%” and hit the Enter button.
  5. Look for the Discord name from the appearing list of results and click on the Delete button.
  6. Restart the computer and check if the problem is resolved or not. If this method did not help you to resolve the problem, then you should move on to the next method.

Fix 3: Delete the Discord Folder

You can resolve the problem by deleting the Discord folder. The following steps will help you to delete the Discord folder.

  1. Press the Win key + R button both at the same time from the keyboard to open the Run dialog box. 
  2. Write down “%AppData%” and hit the Enter key. Otherwise, you can click on the OK button,
  3. After that, the File Explorer window will appear on the computer screen. Right click on the Discord folder and click on the Delete button.
  4. Again press the Win key + R button from the keyboard and evoke the Run dialog box. 
  5. Write down “%LocalAppData%” and click on OK.
  6. Thereafter, a new window will appear on the computer screen. Move to the Discord folder and right click on it. Then, click on the Delete button.
  7. Restart the computer and verify if the problem still appears on the system or not. 

Fix 4: Update the Outdated Applications

Sometimes, the problem might be caused due to the use of outdated applications. So, you should update all the applications by following the steps that are provided here:

  1. At first, open the Special Context menu by pressing the Win key + X button from the keyboard and hit the Enter button. 
  2. Otherwise, go to the Start button and right click on it. Then, select the Windows Powershell (Admin) button.
  3. Write down “cmd” in the Powershell console and wait for a few minutes.
  4. Then, write down the following commands in the cmd console window and hit the Enter button from the keyboard: “wuauclt.exe /updatenow”
  5. You just need to run the commands for least for an hour. Then, verify if the if any updates were found and/or installed successfully.

Additional Steps

Once you are done with the steps that we have discussed before, now you should go through these additional steps to resolve discord installation error.

  1. At first, download the latest version of the Microsoft .NET Framework and run it on the computer. Then, verify its integrity.
  2. Press the Win key + R button from the keyboard to open the Run dialog box. 
  3. Write down “Control Panel” in the appearing dialog box and hit the Enter button from the keyboard. Otherwise, you can click on the OK button.
  4. Then, click on the “Uninstall a Program” option and select Enable or Disable the Windows features.
  5. If you find any checkbox near to the .NET Framework 4.x, then turn On (mark the checkbox). 
  6. Thereafter, click on the OK button and close the Windows Feature window and restart the system.
  7. If you find that the checkbox which is located Next to the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 is disabled, then you should turn it On. Finally, reboot the system to check if the problem is resolved or not.
