How to Troubleshoot internet problems in HughesNet?

There might be times when you face issues regarding your Hughesnet internet connection and those times can be very frustrating. Nothing can be more annoying than a slow internet or internet connectivity issue when you are doing something important and such issues come in your way to affect your productivity.

If I’m using internet service and doing my work and all of a sudden my internet stops working, I will feel like throwing the device. Similarly, if you have planned a movie night where everyone is coming to your place to watch a movie and the internet stops working, you will face embarrassment and everyone will be angry. So, a bad internet connection or connectivity issues are equally maddening for everyone as they are for me.

There are many factors that can affect your internet connection. The weather has a great impact on your internet speed and connectivity as the connection between HughesNet satellite and the dish antenna at your house weakens. Also, if your dish gets damaged, you will face issues regarding your internet services. There might be some other factors as well which can affect your internet connection other than bad weather. The following are the ways to troubleshoot the internet problems before you reach out to Hughesnet customer support.

Check cords and cables

The first thing that you need to check if you are facing issues regarding your cords and cables is you check if all the cables and the cords are connected and aren’t loose. You need to make sure that everything is good at both the satellite and the modem end. If the cables or the cords would be loose, you might face issues regarding your internet connectivity. If the cable gets damaged, replace it with a new one and see if your internet works fine. In case you face the issues again regarding your internet, then chances are there is some other problem.

Check your Hughesnet modem

Check your Hughesnet modem and see if something is wrong with the modem. You can also use the Hughesnet modem troubleshooting software to resolve the internet connectivity issues. The following are the steps:

  • Go to the Hughesnet system control center
  • Select the ‘Connectivity test’ which would be under the diagnostic utilities
  • Select the ‘Problem Troubleshooting’

If there will be any issues regarding the modem which is causing internet connectivity issues, this software will detect those issues.

Reset the modem

If you are facing issues regarding your internet service for more than an hour or two, try resetting your modem. The reset button would be located probably on the backside of the modem. Press the modem reset button and wait till the modem light goes off and then release the button. Unplug all the wires and wait for a minute or two. Plug back all the wires, turn on the modem and see if it works or not.

Check data cap

If you are facing issues regarding the internet speed, the reason could be that you have used the allocated data. With Hughesnet, you don’t get disconnected from the internet, even if you have used all the data that has been assigned to you as there is no hard data limit but you will experience slow download and upload speed if your data is over.

You can check the status by logging in at your Hughesnet app. If your data is over and you want to get back to the original speed that you were getting, you can buy data tokens anytime and can back to the original speed. In case you don’t want to pay anything extra, the best thing would be to wait till the next month starts as it will get renewed after that.

Check internet outage

The reason that your internet is not working might be the internet outage. There are many websites where you can go and check if there is an internet outage in your area. If you see that there is an internet outage in your, don’t do anything as it is something tech teams would already be working on to fix.

Simply wait for a few hours and see if the service gets back. If not, reach out to the customer support team of Hughesnet, tell them your issue and they will surely help you out.

Call customer support

If nothing is working out, you can reach Hughesnet customer support which is providing amazing customer service to its customers via live call, live chat, email, and social media.
