This is a little bit time consuming but in this case, the solutions are very easy and straightforward therefore it won’t take much time.

Now let’s get into the solutions.

1. An issue with the Digital Signature Certificate

The error 15215 is usually related to the Digital Signature Certificate, therefore, you need to fix it at first. In order to update your Quickbooks, you need to install the proper version of the Certificate.

To start it, go to the Windows search bar and type QBW32.exe. In the result, you will find a shortcut of that file. But if you want to do it manually then you can directly visit its location which is “C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks”.

Once you locate it, right click on that file. A pop-up menu will appear where you will get the Properties option. Click on it and it will launch the Properties window. On that window, you have to locate the Digital Signature tab and click on it. Now on that tab, you have to check that the Intuit, Inc option is selected or not.

Then, you have to click on the Details option.  That click will lead you to another window where you need to hit the View Certificate option. Now on that window, click on the Install Certificate option and then hit the Next button. After that hit, you need to wait for a few minutes until the Windows shows you the Finish. When it does, hit it.

Now the last thing you need to do is reboot your system and try to download the updates again. If the update downloading process is working perfectly, it’s mean the problem is solved and if it doesn’t then you need to try a different solution.

2. Check the Internet Explorer

Sometimes the Quickbooks update process pauses due to the internet connection and that results in error 15215. But if your internet connection is working fine then you need to check your Internet Explorer. It is because in some cases the internet connection gets paused due to the wrong system and Internet Explorer settings. If this same thing happens with your system then you need to fix it in order to solve this error code.

Check the Date and Time

Before applying any fix you should check the date and time of your Windows system. To do that first launch the Setting apps. Now on the Setting page, click on the Date & Time tab. On that tab, you have to make sure that all the things are correct.

If it is not correct then to fix it first turn off the Set time automatically option. Then change the date and time to its correct configuration and click OK.

Now, if the date and time are set properly, then you need to move on to the Internet Explorer.

Configure your Internet Explorer

Now if everything is fine and up to the mark then, you need to configure your Internet Explorer for a smooth QuickBooks update.

To do that you have again click on the Setting icon and enter into the Internet option again. On its settings window, you have to click on the Connections tab and then hit the LAN Settings options. Now there, you have to check the box beside the Automatically Detect Settings. During this, make sure that the box beside the Proxy servers is blank because it is not recommended during the QuickBooks update process.

After this move onto the Advanced tab section. Inside that section, you need to find the SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0 option and check the boxes beside them. Then find the Check for publisher’s certificate and TLS 1.2 option and uncheck the boxes beside them. Then you need to click on the OK option to apply all the settings.

After the last task, you need to perform the updating process of your Quickbooks.

3. Check The Firewall

If your internet connection and Internet Explorer is working fine then the next thing you can block is the Windows Firewall. Therefore to remove this error you need to check your Windows Firewall.

To do that first you need to open the Control Panel. To do that you can take help from the WinX menu. To launch it press the “Windows key + X” and then click on the Control Panel option from that menu. On that Control Panel page, click on the System and Security. On that page, you will get the Windows Firewall option. Click on it and enter into that page.

Now on the Windows Firewall page, click on the Advanced settings options. Inside the Advanced settings options, you will get the Inbound Rules. Right click on it and select the New Rule. Then under the Rule type Section option. Check the box beside Port option. After that choose the first set of radio button as TCP and the second one “Specific local ports”. Now, you need to add those port numbers on the box under the Specific local ports option.
