Now, there are two different ways in which we can go about restoring back all the settings. The first one is to restore all that from a backup if you happen to have that.

And the next one is through iTunes, which works in conjunction with Apple iCloud. Thus, you will have cloud storage services where you can have all this backed up automatically. And you will be able to restore the default factory settings from there only.

So, let us go ahead and check out all of that.

Restoring Factory Settings from a Backup in iTunes

If you have a backup of all the settings that you have made, then you can use that to perform the restoring for your iPad.

Here are all the steps that you are going to need for this process.

  • Open up the iPad and once you are on the home screen. Then, you will have to look for the Settings option.
  • In the Settings window, go to the General section and once you are in it. Look for the Reset button which will be there on that screen.
  • Tap on it as you find it and that is going to start the process of factory reset. It will search for the backup file for the settings and will reset from there.
  • Wait till the process is over, and then just restart the device to apply the new change.

If this is not possible for you for some reason, then you will have to use iTunes. And for that, you will have to take certain measures to ensure proper execution of this.

Restore iPad With iTunes

First is that you will have to create a backup for the iPad and all the settings that it has. So, if something is there that is not working, then you will be able to use this backup. Follow these steps if you want to do that.

  • Go to the Settings section in your iPad and open up the list of options that are there.
  • From that list of options look for and then tap on either the Apple ID or the iCloud option. That will depend on the types of accounts that you have.
  • Now, in that section, tap on the iCloud option available on the screen.
  • Here, you are going to get a very accurate representation of the storage that is there on your device.
  • Along with that, you are going to see an entire list of options that are there. Look for the iCloud Backup option and tap on it as you find it.
  • This is going to start looking for the latest backup that you happen to have in your system.
  • Also, in the Backup Settings section, you are going to find a Back Up Now button. And the option for the backup is going to be right next to it. Click on that button to initiate the process.

Thus, you have found out and put the backup in line for execution. And from here we can move on to the next steps.

Turn off Find My iPad option:

You are going to find all of that from the Apple ID settings option. And here are some steps to guide you.

  • Start the Settings app once again from your iPad, in case you have closed it.
  • Once you are in that app, look for either the Apple ID option or the iCloud button depending on your account layout. That is going to be somewhere around the top left hand side of the screen.
  • Again, select the iCloud option from the next window that opens up from there.
  • Now, go to the Find My iPad button and pull up the settings section for that.
  • Next to the Find My iPad option, you are going to see a toggle switch. Tap on it and turn it off from there.

  • Start the iTunes program from the computer and look for the listing of your iPad in that window.
  • Then after you find the name of your device from the list of devices, and once you find it, click on it.
  • Now, you are going to see the Restore iPad option right underneath the operating system information block.
  • Click on that button and you are going to get a prompt for settings back up from there. But since you have already taken care of the backup part, you can skip this step.
  • The iTunes program is now going to start the process of restoring the system. All you have to do after that is to select the Restore and Update option.
