Two Finger Scroll Not Working On Windows 10: Easy And Quick Fixes

Two-finger scroll not working is one of the most prominent glitches encountered by Windows users on their system and mostly appears after updating the Operating System. This problem restricts the system’s touchpad to work properly thereby hampers their task.  

Generally, this problem shows if the two-finger scrolling feature is turned off. An outdated version of the touchpad driver can also cause this issue.

Resolve Two Finger Not Working Problem With Easy Solutions 

There are several possible solutions to fix the two-finger scroll not working glitch on a Windows 10 system. Moreover, the fixes mentioned below will help you eliminate all the touch problems efficiently. So, let’s take a look at the fixes.

Solution 1 – Turn On Two-Finger Scrolling

If the two-finger scrolling feature is disabled, then you might face this problem on the system. So, you need to turn it off in order to solve this issue. Follow the steps cited below:

  1. At first, on the keyboard, hold the Windows button and press the X key to open the WinX menu list and choose Control Panel from there.
  2. From the Control Panel window, click on the Hardware and Sound section and then go to the Devices and Printer section.
  3. Under the Devices and Printers section, select the Mouse button. 
  4. In the Mouse Properties window, go to the Devices Settings tab and then select the Settings option.
  5. From the Touchpad Properties window, select the MultiFinger Gestures button to expand it and then tick on the Two-Finger Scrolling to enable it.

After completing these steps, select the Apply option to save the changes. Then restart the Windows 10 system and then check if the two-finger scrolling works perfectly without any hassle. 

Solution 2 – Change the Mouse Pointer

By modifying the mouse pointer, you can get rid of the two-finger scroll not working on the Windows 10. To do that, follow these directions:

  1. Firstly, open the Control Panel window.
  2. When you are in the Control Panel window, go to the Hardware and Sound section.
  3. In the Hardware and Sound window, find the Devices and Printers section and then click on the Mouse button.
  4. When the Mouse Properties window opens, move to the Pointers tab and choose another pointer from the Scheme box. Then select the Apply button to save the changes. 

Solution 3 – Roll Back the Touchpad Driver

This is an alternative solution that we have shared to eliminate this problem on the system. A faulty driver can cause this problem on the system. So, you need to attempt to roll back the driver and check if the problem is solved or not. Follow the steps instructed below:

  1. First of all, right-click on the Windows icon located at the bottom left corner to launch the WinX Menu list and select Device Manager.
  2. From the Device Manager window, select the Mouse and other pointing devices to expand the section.
  3. After that, right-click on the Touchpad device and choose the Properties option from that list.
  4. When the Properties window opens, go to the Driver tab and select the Rollback Driver option. Now, you’ll find that a confirmation window will open, select the Yes button to start the process.

Once rolling back of the touchpad driver is complete, reboot the system and then check if the issue is fixed or not. 

Solution 4 – Uninstall the Touchpad Driver and Install it Again

A corrupted or missing touchpad driver can cause the two-finger scroll to not work. So, you should remove the touchpad driver and reinstall it on your PC. To reinstall it, follow the steps hereunder:

  1. Press the Win + R buttons to launch the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and then hit the Enter button or click on the OK option.
  2. When the Device Manager window opens, find the Mouse and other pointing devices section, select it to expand. 
  3. After that, right-click on the Touchpad driver and then select the Uninstall button to remove it.
  4. Once it is uninstalled, restart the device and then install it properly.

To install it, again go to the Device Manager window and select the Scan for hardware changes button. Now the system will find the default driver and install it properly. 

Once the installation process is complete, reboot the system and then check if this problem still persists or not. 

Solution 5 – Update the Touchpad Driver  

If you are using an older version of touchpad driver, then you may get this problem on your PC. So, you must renew the touchpad driver. Sometimes, updating the touchpad driver can fix the two-finger scroll not working issue on the system. 

You can update the touchpad driver in two ways.

Manually

  1. You should visit the official website and search for the latest version of the Touchpad Driver. 
  2. After searching for it, download and then install the driver. 

Automatically

  1. Hold the Windows Home key and press the R key together to open the Run box. Type Device Manager and then hit the Enter button or click on the OK option.  
  2. When you are in the Device Manager window, navigate to the Mouse and other pointing devices section and then right-click on the touchpad driver. Then select the Update Software Driver option and follow the instructions appearing on the screen. 
  3. Once the updating process is complete, restart your PC and then check if the problem is solved or not. 

Solution 6 – Editing Registry Values

After performing the above-mentioned fixes, if the issue is still there, then you need to try out this solution. Go through these steps:

  1. Press the Windows key + R button to launch the Run window. Type regedit and then hit the Enter button or select the OK button. 
  2. From the Registry Editor window, go to the following folder: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synaptics\SynTP\TouchPadPS2 
  3. On the right side window, you will find a list of various keys present. You need to change them. Find any key and double click on it. 
  4. Change the value and then click on the OK button followed by the Apply to save the changes. 

Tweaking with the registry is a risky process and should not be done if you’re not well versed with the technicalities of it. Solution 7 – Run the Hardware Troubleshooter

  2. Double-click on the Update and Security section from the Settings window.
  3. Go to the Troubleshoot tab on the left panel. 
  4. On the right, scroll down the page and find the Hardware and Devices section, select it. After that, click on the Run the troubleshooter button to start the process. 

After completing the process, reboot your PC and then check if the problem still appears or not.
