When the process gets completed, enter the command in the command box to launch the System File Checker tool on your device.

sfc/scannow

Step 4

This tool starts to scan your device and locate the damaged files. Now, press the Delete button to clear the corrupted files.

Finally, close all the tabs and try to open the System Restore to check whether the error message still exists or not.

Fix 2: Use a System Restore Point

Second command: reagentc /enable

You can fix the issue just by running the DISM scan outside of the Windows environment. To perform the action, go through the following steps and apply them accordingly.

To continue further, you should create Windows 10 installation media. There are several third-party tools present to create that.

Step 1

At first, boot your device from the installation media and then choose the desired language.

Now, click on the Repair your computer option which is situated at the bottom left panel of the system screen.

After that, select Troubleshoot and then move to the Advanced section. Now, open the Command Prompt window and enter “dism/get-wiminf /wimfile:E:sourcesinstall.esd” in the command box.

Step 4

Thereafter, enter “mkdir d:scratch” in the command window and hit the Enter button to execute the command.

Step 5

Further, type “dism /image:d /cleanup-image /restorehealth /source:esd:e:sourcesinstall.esd:2 /scratchdir:d:scratch /limitaccess” and press the Enter key.

If everything is great, then the DISM tool starts to scan your device and repair the damaged files.

Fix 4: Refresh Windows from the Windows Defender
