Method 1: Check the Hardware

Hardware problem arises when the Home button is physically dislodged or the dust and dirt have made the button less sensitive.

In other instances, the cables of the Home button connected to the motherboard is unfortunately damaged. Similarly, a loose connection between the cables and motherboard can make the Home button unresponsive. 

Method 2: Use Assistive Touch

If your iPhone is suffering from a software glitch, then you can try out this alternative way as well. This method uses Assistive Touch to add a virtual Home button on your iPhone screen. 

Follow the steps given below to use Assistive Touch, a built-in feature for iPhones. :

  1. Open the Settings app and navigate to the ‘General’ tab. 
  2. Tap ‘Accessibility’ under the ‘General’ tab and choose ‘Assistive Touch.’
  3. Move the toggle to the right to activate this feature so that you can have a virtual Home button on your iPhone screen. 

Note: Assistive Touch is not a permanent solution for iPhone Home button not working. But, it is an alternative way to handle this issue temporarily. 

Method 3: Fix Software Problems by a Simple Reboot

The Home button will work at some point in time if there are software glitches within your iPhone. Thus, you are able to use your iPhone with software glitches.
